If you reach out to me on social media, chances are, I will miss the notification. I get hundreds of notifications a day through social media. Can I order a colorway dyed to order?
If you need 3 or more skeins of the same colorway, please reach out to me. For fingering weight, I usually dye sweater quantities and have them available in the listings, but for DK/Worsted it can be harder to find it ready to ship. I'm happy to dye them, please check to see what my current turn around time is to dye to order. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you'd like to know what is coming on each shop update, please follow me on social media, or sign up for my emailed newsletter.
Do you dye custom colorways?
I do not dye custom colorways, but I am always open to ideas, suggestions, and inspiration.
Can I pre-order or reserve yarn/colorways that are coming in your next update?
To make it fair to everyone, I do not reserve or allow pre-orders. All of my stock is available as it is dried and tagged. I do not hold colorways for shop updates. So, check back often! Or follow me on social media, subscribe to my newsletter, or watch me on YouTube to find out what's going on in my shop.
Can you wind my yarn into a ball or "cake?"
I do not have a ball winding service.
How do I care for hand dyed yarn?
For best results soak in a basin of cold water for no longer than 5 minutes, with 1 teaspoon unscented wool wash. Lay flat to dry. Minimal bleeding can occur on the first few washes (especially with pinks and reds). Using a color catcher is a great way prevent any excess dye from getting on other colors in your project.
How we wash the yarn before it is shipped to you:
We use unscented Eucalan on all yarn. We rinse all the yarn twice in water to make sure the water is running clear, and then soak it in Eucalan for 5 minutes. Even with this process, minimal bleeding can occur on the first few washes (especially with pinks and reds).
The reason I recommend unscented, is some soap companies use alcohol-based scents instead of natural scents or essential oils. The alcohol bases can cause bleeding or fading of the dye. The scented wool washes I recommend are Eucalan and Soak, please follow the guidelines and care instructions.
Do you collaborate with knit or crochet designers?
I do! Please reach out to me with your ideas of what you had in mind. I certainly do not say yes to everyone, so please make sure to have a fully formed idea before reaching out to me.
I like to spread out designs and collaborations throughout the year to make sure I can dye plenty of yarn for the design release, and have enough time to dedicate to hosting/co-hosting a KAL or CAL.
I have a podcast/blog/Instagram/event coming up, will you donate yarn?
I am extremely selective on who I send yarn to, it is financially impossible to send yarn to all of you amazing podcasters/bloggers/event coordinator, even though it's tempting. I know how hard you work at what you do, but please appreciate that we also work hard at what we do. Lolodidit is a full time business supporting my family and employees.
I do not send yarn to anyone who has solicited me for giveaways. When I do giveaways or send to podcasters/bloggers/designers, it is because I have personally been inspired by those people. Please do not contact me with requests.
Can I use your photos in my podcast/blog/Instagram, etc?
I would absolutely love that! All of the photos belong to lolodidit under copyright law, please credit the photos by using my website, my Instagram name, or #lolodidit. Businesses who would like to use my photos or photographs of my yarn, please see below.
Can I use your yarn or patterns for my business?
Any yarn purchased, if knitted, crocheted, woven, etc. can definitely be used for your small business! I love seeing makers everywhere use my yarn for their projects or selling the finished items!
Patterns can also be used for your small business to make the item to sell. But, patterns are not to be resold or printed and sold. None of my patterns are available for purchase in yarn stores or as kits. Please purchase my patterns from www.ravelry.com or www.lolodidit.com.
Lolodidit Yarn is not intended to be purchased for resale unless there has been a specific agreement made between Lauren Slagle of lolodidit and the business reselling the yarn.
Any photos of lolodidit yarn in its original form (in a skein or untwisted) and not knitted, crocheted, woven, etc. can not be used for business purposes unless a specific agreement is made between Lauren Slagle of lolodidit and that business.
The yarn in its original form is artwork and belongs to Lauren Slagle of lolodidit and should not be used for business or commercial purposes, including but not limited to photographs of that yarn.
Will you teach me how to dye yarn?
I enjoy hearing how many of you are inspired to dye yarn from following me. It's truly humbling. However, this is my business, I have developed my own way of dyeing through trial and error and have invested a lot of time and money into this business. I hope you can appreciate that I will not train up my competition. If you do choose to go into the yarn dyeing business, though, I wish you all the success and cannot wait to see what you create.
Do you sell wholesale?
I’m not currently offering wholesale prices for retail stores, if this ever changes, the information will be updated here. But, I'm always open to a conversation to be able to carry my yarn in your yarn shop. Please email me at email@example.com
